How networks (and Nexnet Academy) work

Networking is just messages moving between devices

Every time you open a website, your computer packages a request into a packet, sends it across cables and switches and routers, and gets a reply. Most of that is invisible - which is exactly why networking feels hard. Nexnet Academy makes it visible: you watch packets move, see where they get stuck, and fix the problem.

You learn by fixing broken networks

Instead of reading theory first, you get a broken network and a symptom - 'the laptop can't reach the internet.' You investigate with tools, change a setting, run the tests, and watch the packet replay explain what happened. The concept follows the problem, so it sticks.

The loop

Read the ticket → inspect the topology → run diagnostics (ping, traceroute, nslookup) → change a config → Run Tests → watch the replay → earn stars and XP. Every fix builds mastery in a specific skill you can track on your dashboard.

Concept cards

Packet

A small, self-contained unit of data with a source and destination address.

A letter in an envelope: it has a to/from address and travels hop by hop.

Client / Server

A client asks for something (a web page); a server answers.

You (client) order at a counter; the kitchen (server) makes the food.
